Skate Freedom Collages
Skateboarding to me eludes to an open sky of possibilities and my abstract idea of bodily freedom. I make delicate biomorphic images that celebrate and evoke strength, movement, body activation and skateboarding. I dissected and re-contextualize images from my 1990's Thrasher magazine collection, including my own photographs and drawings, tape, gesso, glue and paint. I use Risograph machine techniques for the opaque color layers, the dot process and duplicating aspect for shape creating, space and the feeling of movement on the surface.
This artwork is made to evoke the mysterious freeing spirit, and contemplative out-of-body experiences I have skateboarding.
